Specialties and professional realization 

The specialties are dived into the following faculties:

  • Agricultural and Industrial Faculty - the faculty works according to modern curricula, which are tied to our and foreign partners and guarantee a solid foundation of engineering education with a free choice of specializations and an emphasized practical orientation.
  • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - is responsible for training students from the following majors: "Mechanical Engineering", "Industrial Engineering", "Quality Management and Metrology", "Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics", "Materials Science and Technologies" and "Construction Engineering".
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation - the rapid pace of development of cutting-edge technologies in the electrical and electronic industry necessitated the reorganization of the faculty in 1984 into the Faculty of "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation", which became the largest academic unit of the University.
  • Faculty of Transport - it is an established centre for training engineers in the field of tractor technology and transport in Bulgaria. The faculty and its specialties are accredited by the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Schools.
  • Faculty of Business and Management - prepares professionals for organizations from the private, public and non-governmental sectors, who can be realized as managers, marketers, experts in international departments of Bulgarian companies, or in international companies operating on the Bulgarian market, experts on European issues in the national and local administrations, etc.
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences and Education - has 36 classrooms, 8 computer rooms, a laboratory for psychological research, a puppet theatre, an exhibition hall, a museum of pedagogical education in Ruse, an educational and sports centre, a library. It studies over 800 students accredited with the highest grade by NAAAHS bachelor's majors.
  • Faculty of Law - The Faculty of Law at the University of Ruse is the first faculty in Bulgaria to be a member of the European Association of Law Faculties (EALF).
  • Faculty of Public Health and Health Care - The Faculty is the recipient of the "Ruse" Award for 2012.

Specialty AGRICULTURAL TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGIES - in full-time and part-time study

The specialty is designed for the training of engineering specialists in the technical assurance of agricultural production.

The specialty prepares the people in the field of diagnostics and maintenance of the reliability indicators of motor transport and agricultural machinery, machines and equipment in various branches of industry (agricultural-industrial, transport, processing, energy, etc.)

Graduates of the specialty receive the professional qualification "Mechanical engineer" and can lead companies, workshops and departments related to the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of motor vehicle and agricultural machinery, machines and equipment, repair and dealer enterprises, agricultural and industrial dealers, control and technical centers and research organizations.

AIR CONDITIONING, HYDRAULIC AND GASIFICATION specialty - in full-time and part-time study
Current and competitive specialty from the professional field of Mechanical Engineering. Students receive a broad-based engineering training that forms a modern mechanical engineer who can successfully deal with a variety of general technical and general engineering problems.

Specialty AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING - in full-time and part-time study
The training ensures the acquisition of in-depth and specialized knowledge in plant breeding, animal breeding and agricultural mechanization. Graduates acquire the qualification "Agricultural engineer".

DESIGN specialty - in regular form of education
The training provides in-depth training of specialist designers with wide-ranging knowledge and skills for the design industry and develops students' abilities to solve a variety of innovative design tasks (artistic, ergonomic, technical).

Graduates of the specialty receive the "Engineer-designer" qualification.

 Specialty ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TECHNIQUE - in full-time and part-time study

The training provides the necessary preparation for technical, technological, organizational and management activities in environmental protection. The acquired qualification can be developed through master's and doctoral programs.

Specialty PLANT CULTURE - in full-time and part-time form of study

Graduates of the specialty acquire the professional qualification "Agronomist" and specialize in one of the selected areas of crop production, such as grain-grain, grain-legume, fodder, vegetable, technical, medicinal, specific and essential-oil crops and perennial crops.

Universal and established specialty in the professional field "Technical Sciences".

Graduates of the specialty acquire a bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Mechanical engineer". The acquired qualification can be supplemented and developed in several master's and doctoral programs.

MATERIAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY specialty - in full-time and part-time study

A classical and at the same time modern specialty in the professional direction "Materials and Materials Science", providing fundamental and specialized training in the field of materials and technologies for their preparation and processing.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Technological engineer". The acquired qualification can be developed through master's and doctoral programs.

Construction engineering specialty - in full-time study

Bachelor construction engineers acquire competences: to read construction technical documentation, to know and use the technical means and machines for carrying out construction works, to know construction technologies and construction materials, to organize and manage construction activities, construction companies, construction and installation projects of equipment in buildings, engineering facilities and transport infrastructure.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Construction engineer". The acquired qualification can be developed and supplemented through master's and doctoral programs.

Specialty QUALITY MANAGEMENT AND METROLOGY - in full-time study

The specialty was created under the European project EuroQLIO together with the "Henri Poincaré" University, Nancy, France, and the Bucharest Polytechnic, Romania.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Engineer metrologist". The acquired qualification can be developed and supplemented in master's and doctoral programs.

Specialty Industrial Engineering - in full-time and part-time study

The specialty was created under an European project in cooperation with Nottingham Trent University - England.

A broad-based major, giving students in-depth fundamental, general technical and specialized training in the field of general engineering with a practical focus on industrial technologies and machines, the design of mechatronic and industrial production systems, automation, robotization and management of technological processes and production equipment. The training also includes mastering specialized computer products, foreign language training, quality control and management, human resources management in the industrial sector.

Additional training in the field of management enables graduates of the specialty to work as managers, capable of making decisions and drawing up business plans, as well as forming management strategies.

Specialty ELECTRICAL ENERGY AND ELECTRICAL SUPPLY - in full-time and part-time study

Students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary in the production, distribution and consumption of electrical energy, in the field of energy management, in the use of electronic and computer technology for the management of technological processes. Students acquire and develop competencies in energy efficiency and rational use of electrical energy. The training is carried out according to curricula close to those used in leading Western European universities.

 Graduates of this specialty acquire the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor" with the professional qualification "Electrical engineer".

The specialty prepares highly qualified and broad-based specialists with solid general technical training and in-depth knowledge in the field of automation, modern information and control systems and mechatronics.

Graduates of the specialty can successfully work in organizations and companies whose activity is related to the design, operation and maintenance of devices and systems for automatic control and management, information systems, mechatronic systems, robotic systems and complexes, and others.

ELECTRONICS specialty - in full-time and part-time study

The training provides basic engineering knowledge in the professional field of electrical engineering, electronics and automation, including in-depth study of general engineering disciplines, electrical engineering, electronics and foreign languages, as well as practical training by studying specialized disciplines - analog, digital and microprocessor circuit engineering, electrical engineering mechanical and power supply devices, electronic circuit theory, microelectronics, electronic equipment design and technology, measurements and design automation in electronics, electronic control and management devices, optoelectronics and laser devices in industry, etc.

Those who have acquired the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor in Electronics" can continue their studies in the master's programs "Electronics" and "Automotive Electronics", provided by professors from the Department of Electronics and leading specialists from the practice, to acquire the educational and qualification degree "Master Engineer" .

Specialization COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES - in full-time and part-time study

Graduates acquire the qualification "Computer Engineer". They can be implemented in leading Bulgarian or international technology companies as highly paid IT experts, consultants, software and hardware developers, system administrators, etc.

Students who graduated from the CST specialty work in the largest software companies in Bulgaria, including Musala Soft, Sirma, SAP Labs, Adastra, MentorMate, Information Service, Xogito, Cayetano Gaming and many others. The local software business mainly relies on experts trained in the software direction of the CST specialty. Some of the graduates also work in the banking and financial sector, state administration, scientific organizations, manufacturing enterprises or successfully develop their own business in the field of information technology.

Modern technologies for multimedia, mobile and Internet communications are the basis of training in the specialty.

The Department of Telecommunications has a modern material base, through which training is carried out that meets the needs of the labor market. The practical classes are carried out according to the methodology and equipment of world leaders in information and communication technologies, including Cisco, Siemens, MikroTik, VMware, Intel, Texas Instruments, HP, Sony, Artec, HTC, etc. Engineers who graduated from the "Internet and Mobile Communications" specialty work in telecommunications companies, providers of communication services and equipment, companies for software development and creation of computer games, cyber security and network administration departments.

Graduates of the specialty acquire the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor" and can be successfully implemented in the country and abroad in the field of information and communication technologies, including in leading scientific research, design, consulting and operator units of leading companies in the field of mobile and communication networks, cable operators and data transmission companies, information and telecommunications services, software development, Internet technologies and others.

Specialty TRANSPORT TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGIES - in full-time and part-time study

The specialty provides professional training for a wide range of activities in the field of transport and transport engineering, including the design, production, operation, diagnostics, testing, maintenance and repair of internal combustion engines, cars, tractors, trucks and railway equipment. The basics of technology and organization of transport and traffic safety, modern electronic systems in cars are also studied.

The specialty provides broad-based professional training for a wide range of activities in the field of road, rail and water transport, including: the technique and technologies for domestic and international transport of goods and passengers; the planning, organization and management of transport flows and processes; the structure and functioning of the European transport market; forwarding and logistics; transport systems; traffic safety; transport planning; traffic management; diagnostics and maintenance of cars; the planning and design of car workshops; management, marketing, financial and accounting, transport and commercial law, ecology, etc. Training in the specialty is in accordance with European standards in transport.

The training in the Social Activities specialty is in accordance with the national and European educational standards in this field. The system of integrated knowledge, skills and values in basic educational areas - sociology and social policy, foundations and methods of social work, psychology, medico-biological development of man, legal sciences, economics, organization and management of social activities, etc., are with an emphasis on the clinical component with a psycho-social and medico-social focus.

Specialty BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - in regular and distance learning

Graduates of this specialty acquire knowledge and skills for: development of business development strategies, innovation policy, forecasts and plans; building and implementing effective management structures and technologies; methods and techniques for making business decisions; organizing, coordinating and motivating staff; business control, analysis and regulation; working with software products for business activities.

They acquire the professional qualification "Business manager" and can work as management bodies from all organizational levels in the company; as specialists who can make strategic decisions, carry out marketing research, participate in innovation processes in the creation of new products and their implementation in business, to manage human resources; as managers of small, medium and large businesses and public organizations.

They acquire the professional qualification "Bachelor in digital management and innovation" and can work as managers, specialists, analysts, consultants, experts in public administration, coordinators of development and innovation teams in administration and economic management, state and local government bodies , helping to manage digital and innovation processes.

They acquire the professional qualification "Bachelor of Public Administration" and can work as: managers and specialists in various units and departments of state and local administration, such as: administration of ministries; administration of state or executive agencies; administration of state commissions; district administration administration of municipalities and town halls, specialists in international cooperation, development and implementation of European projects, managers and specialists in associations, foundations and private companies.

The bachelor's program in the specialty provides knowledge, skills and training in the fundamental and functional economic disciplines for the needs of business practice and public administration.

Graduates with the "Bachelor of Economics" qualification can work in business organizations, state institutions, non-profit organizations, i.e. successfully implement themselves in all economic sectors at any level - company, regional, national, European.

Bachelors who complete this major can enroll in any Master's degree in economics and management.

The training provides comprehensive training, knowledge and skills in the following main areas: economics, law, marketing, finance and accounting, business planning and design, production, innovation and personnel management, quality systems, logistics management, information technology, enhanced foreign language study as well as an elective engineering technology stream with a focus on mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or software engineering.

Graduates of the specialty acquire the professional qualification "Engineer manager".

Specialty Software Engineering – in full time study

Students are trained according to the requirements of the authoritative international professional organizations Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IEEE Computing Society. Modern programming languages and environments, data structures, algorithm design and analysis, computer networks, databases, distributed systems, web-based systems, mobile applications, artificial intelligence, project management, etc. are studied. Basic mathematical knowledge related to the specialty in the field of applied mathematics is obtained. The mandatory fundamental disciplines in the curriculum provide the necessary broad-based training in computer science and software technologies.

Professional direction 4.5. Mathematics

Specialty Financial Mathematics – in regular form of education

The specialty is unique and a priority for Bulgaria. According to the Decree of the Council of Ministers, it is exempted from semester fees. It prepares highly qualified specialists for the needs of the banking and insurance sectors, health and pension insurance, optimal management of supplies of raw materials and materials for production and shipment of finished products, preparation of investment plans, financial and business analyses, forecasting, analysis and risk assessment.

The professional qualification is "Mathematician-financier".

All graduate students have the opportunity within three additional semesters to acquire a master's degree at the University of Ruse as mathematics or informatics teachers.

Specialization BULGARIAN LANGUAGE AND HISTORY - in regular form of education

Graduates of this specialty acquire the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor" with the professional qualification "Teacher of Bulgarian language and literature and teacher of history".

Graduated students can continue their studies within two semesters in the master's program "Modern Bulgarian Studies and Education" (full-time and part-time), which gives the opportunity to work in a wide range of professions with a humanitarian profile. Successfully graduated students receive a diploma for EQD "Master " with the professional qualification "Master of Bulgarian Studies".

Professional direction 1.2. Pedagogy

Specialty PRIMARY SCHOOL PEDAGOGY AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE (English) - in full-time study

The main goal of training in the specialty "Elementary school pedagogy and foreign language" is to prepare qualified specialists who are able to plan, implement and creatively lead the educational process in primary school, to organize the individual education of children from 7 to 11 years old.

Graduates of this specialty acquire the educational-qualification degree "Bachelor" and the professional qualification "Pedagogue - elementary teacher, pedagogue - elementary teacher of English". They can work as educators; primary teachers teaching a foreign language; educators, methodologists, heads of state and private specialized schools, as well as to occupy all positions requiring higher pedagogical education. Graduated bachelors can continue their education in EQD "Master"; get a second higher education; participate in various forms of lifelong learning.
